Day 65 - Applying Pigments using PPS

A lot of ladies have been asking Brandi, owner of Prism Pigment Shadows, how to apply their loose pigments.  I took some photos to help explain the best way to apply these amazing colors!  You can see some other looks I did using PPS at the following:

For the collage, I used Splinter, Stiletto and Disco Ball.

The most important thing when applying loose pigments is to use a primer.  For this demonstration, I used the ELF primer.  It's cheap, and it gives the pigments something to adhere to so they last longer.

Apply the primer first, and let it dry for a minute.  You want it to just be a little sticky when you apply your pigments.

I used an ULTA eyeshadow brush to apply these colors, and my finger to blend the colors together.  I typically apply ALL SHADOWS with my fingers, but thought I should show how normal people apply their makeup.  It's completely normal to have fallout, where the pigment falls onto your cheek.  I always do my eyes first, and clean up any fallout using a tissue with some lotion on it.  There are a lot of ways to clean up and even avoid fallout, and the more you use your pigments, the easier it will be to develop your own routine.  I used Disco Ball as a highlight, and to make the lines less severe.  I prefer blended looks, but you can find a lot of tutorials on cut creases and other looks.

I finished up my eyes with black eyeliner, curling my lashes, and mascara.

I finished my face with bb cream, 2 powders, bronzer, eyebrow color and lip gloss.  I'm not an expert at makeup, but I love to play around.  I'm sharing so you can see one way that PPS can be used!

And here are 2 of my favorite PPS looks!

Day 64 - Brazen Cosmetics

Who : Brazen Cosmetics
Where : http://brazencosmetics.com/
Swatches : All over NYX White, unless otherwise noted

I ordered 2 Mystery Grab Bags for $10.99 each.  The amount of product you receive for that price is great!

The first grab bag, pictured on the bottom left, contained Glitterati Gel in Scandal (the tube), Organic Solid Perfume in Tatiana, Complexion Illuminator in Afterglow, and Eye Shadows in My Dearest and All My Love.

The second grab bag, pictured in the upper right, contained UltraGlaze Lip Gloss in Crazy Cat Lady, Organic Solid Perfume in Summer Lovin', Complexion Illuminator in Afterglow, Mineral Blush in Charisma, and Good Glitter Gone Bad in Naughty Pink.

My Dearest and All My Love, first outside and then with flash

Blush in Charisma and Afterglow, both swatched over bare skin, first heavily and then blended out

Good Glitter Gone Bad in Naughty pink on top, swatched over Pixie Epoxy on the left, and bare skin on the right.
Glitterati gel in Scandal on the bottom left, and UltraGlaze Lip Gloss in Crazy Cat Lady on the bottom right.

Thoughts:  I love grab bags from this company, and this is at least my third purchase of them.  You get to try out a great range of product, and it's nice to be surprised sometimes!
- The lip glaze is amazing, and I see myself using this often.  I like the consistency, and the color is perfect.
- The illuminator is great for fair-skinned girls, and will make a great highlight, so I have no issue that I received 2 of them.
- I also received a lip conditioner and 2 samples, and I love the lip conditioner!

Day 63 - Black Rose Minerals

Who : Black Rose Minerals
Where : http://www.blackroseminerals.com/
Swatches : All over NYX White

This is my order, the Love Me...Love Me Trio and a Mystery pack.  I also received 5 eyeshadow samples, 2 blush samples and a ton of cute stickers!  Rosa sends amazing freebies with her orders, and her Mystery Packs are the BEST of any company I have tried.

This is Lovestruck, Lovesick and Lovefool, first in the sunlight, then with flash.

Ishtar, Acid, Harvest and Blue Orchid, first in sunlight, then with flash.  Ishtar is gorgeous, and without primer (not pictured) is a perfect, shimmery highlight color.  It has a pink sheen that my camera just didn't pick up.

Thoughts:  This is my second order, and I love it!
- I had considered buying the trio the first time around, and I am SO GLAD I did.  The colors are versatile, but unique enough that I don't already own the exact shades.
- The mystery packs really can't be beat.  $8.00, and you see all of the product I received!  4 jars, 5 eyeshadow samples, and 2 blush samples!

Day 61 - A Rant

I wish less people would use photoshop when it comes to blogging.  I love to peruse different blogs to see swatches and learn about new companies, and just see how different things work for different people.  It's sad and frustrating to find overly photoshopped photographs.  Not only does it make it impossible to tell what the makeup actually looks like, it perpetuates insecurities.

I have yet to meet anyone who wasn't insecure about themself in some way.  It doesn't matter how beautiful, or thin, or what perfect skin or pretty eyes someone has, there is always something they don't like about themselves.  If I wanted to see faked perfection, I would buy a magazine.  I wish more blogs would stop photoshopping, and just post.

With that being said, here is a series of pics of me on one day, with makeup, hours after applying makeup, and with no makeup at all and getting ready for bed.  I am well aware my skin tends to be super red, and I had a zit, and I have pores and even red in my eyes (the horror!).  But imperfections are reality, and it's depressing how many people are in denial.

At least now I feel I have the right to bitch.  I don't photoshop anything, and I really don't care that I will never look 'perfect'.

Day 60 - Femme Fatale Cosmetics

Who : Femme Fatale Cosmetics
Where : http://femmefatalecosmetics.com.au/
Swatches : All over NYX White, first in the sun, then with flash

Above : Levitate, Flare, Smokebomb

Above : Shooting Star, Haunt, Obliterate

Thoughts: I absolutely love Flare, Smokebomb, and Obliterate!
- I love the different finishes, and that some are very glittery while others aren't.
- I bought these during a sale, so the price was AMAZING!
- Because the company is located in Australia I was a little concerned about shipping, but they arrived super fast, packaged professionally.
- I will definately order from this company again.
